Re-using wine bottles in a creative way

Re-using wine bottles in a creative way

Sometimes you can end up with a few empty wine bottles lying around, especially if you have had guests over for dinner. As part of preventing too much waste from building up, re-using is the mantra for all households, and with wine bottles, there are some clever, creative ways to do so.

Before you toss that bottle into the recycling bin, consider getting a little crafty with some great tips from All Parenting. There are quite some interesting things you can do with empty wine bottles.

Chalkboard paint wine bottles

Use for labelling your munchies at your next party or as part of your table display. These are easy to re-use, time and again, just rub the chalk off and start afresh.

  • Empty wine bottle
  • Hot water
  • Soap
  • Can of chalkboard spray paint
  • Cloth
  • Chalk

Soak your empty wine bottle in hot, soapy water to remove any labels.
Wash out the bottle and dry completely.
Place a tarp or cloth in a well-ventilated area.
Place the wine bottle in the center and spray even coats of chalkboard paint.
Let it dry for about 10 minutes and repeat with a second coat.
After you let it dry for 24 hours, use chalk to write your message or draw a picture. Erase with a soft cloth to reuse over and over again!

Olive oil and vinegar bottles

Repurpose bottles to serve olive oil and vinegar with a simple pour spout addition.

  • Empty wine bottles
  • Pour spouts
  • Hot water
  • Soap

Soak your bottle in hot, soapy water to remove any labels. Wash and dry.
Insert a clean pour spout (get from a kitchen supply shop).
Use labels to decorate as you like.
Use your new bottle to serve oil and vinegar at your next meal.
